Savona Vado is one of the major cruise ports in the Med Sea and a "bridge" for Corsica. From 1996 to 2014 over 15 million passengers had  travelled through its cruise and ferry terminals.

Thanks to the central position of Savona with respect to the international airports of Genoa (35 km), Nizza-Cote d’Azur (160 km) and Milan Malpensa (220 km), the Palacrociere terminal (directly managed by Costa Crociere) acts mainly as homeport and its facilities are specifically designed to ensure efficient check in/check out operations of passengers and luggage.

During the recent years the transit share (today covering over 20% of the total traffic) has been steadily growing, thanks to Savona’s proximity to many appealing tourist targets: Eastbound, the historical town of Genova with its aquarium and the charming Portofino; Westbound, the Principality of Monaco and the sparkling Monte Carlo; in the hinterland, many destinations among Piedmont’s history and flavours; last but not least, Savona itself, “the town of the Popes”, and the neighbouring Albissola, among the European capitals of ceramic handcrafts.

At the end of 2008 a further cruise quay was launched, allowing the terminal to host three vessels at the same time: Costa Crociere has built a second maritime station ( Terminal East) on the area behind the new quay, to ensure a high quality of reception services.

The port of Vado Ligure plays a key role as for ferry traffic: Forship operates the ro-ro terminal which offers regular services to Corsica over the year, with three trips a day in summer, when more than 300,000 passengers move for a holiday on the French island.
